ENNOVI Environmental, Health and Safety Governance

ENNOVI’s commitment to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) excellence stretches across our global footprint.

Everywhere we operate, we hold ourselves to the same high standards to protect our employees and communities; it is what our leaders expect and our customers demand.

With every project, we assess the global EHS impacts before, during, and after operations, for processes, employees, contractors, and visitors to our locations. We monitor metrics such as injury rates, environmental violations, risk assessments, global greenhouse gas emissions, and water withdrawals. We strive to achieve a zero-incident workplace that adheres to all applicable environmental protections and complete regulatory requirements.

Our risk-based environment, health, and safety management systems (EHSMS) framework is designed to suit our dynamic business model. It requires significant controls where there is the potential for high-consequence events, while maintaining circumstantial provisions that allow for operational flexibility. We conduct regular, robust EHS audits that provide a means for objective assessment of EHS risk management at the site level. Through this system, we ensure that corporate EHS standards are closely followed, while providing recommendations for improvement and identifying innovative best practices that can be replicated across other Ennovi locations.

In addition to holding our facilities to uniform internal standards, we strongly encourage all business units to maintain compliance with external standards, including ISO14001:2015 and 45001:2018 certifications. Wherever we operate, we are committed to maintaining compliance with environmental regulations mandated by local and federal requirements, including air emissions, wastewater discharge, fire protection, and chemical management. Wherever potential
non-compliance is identified, prompt correction is expected and enforced.

EHS Management System

ENNOVI’s Environment, Health and Safety Management Systems (EHSMS) framework is risk-based and designed to suit our continually evolving and dynamic business and operating model.

The risk-based approach offers flexibility, within defined boundaries, for alternative solutions to risk management needs. Our EHSMS framework recommends mandatory controls where there is potential for occurrence of high-consequence events, and also presents risk control measures that have proven to be effective and judged to be technically best.

Our Global ESG team maintains a series of documents detailing the key components of the Ennovi EHSMS. These documents are designed to protect the environment around us, as well as the health and safety of our employees and the communities in which we operate. They do so by establishing consistent risk thresholds, while making circumstantial provisions for operational flexibility to make decisions to manage risk most effectively. The diagram below illustrates how Ennovi implements, monitors and ensures relevancy of our EHSMS to our business:

EHS Standards

ENNOVI’s EHS Standards support the overarching EHSMS. These standards provide the framework for EHS risk management, incorporating key elements for successful EHS management such as regulatory compliance, risk assessment, clear internal communication, self-audits and senior leadership engagement.

Our EHS Standards cover the following subjects:

Sustainability

ENNOVI has evolved our business priority and focus beyond economic growth – to include an emphasis on sustainable and responsible development. Keeping ourselves sharply focused on the most pressing issues, we have geared our sustainability strategy towards achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals out forth by the United Nations. This makes us part of a concerted effort to build a better, more liveable planet. We are making meaningful progress, particularly in critical areas of decarbonization, energy efficiency, and reduction of water usage.

We have pledged to support the WASH initiative, a signatory to commit to implementing access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene for all the employees in all of ENNOVI’s offices and manufacturing facilities.

Reducing hazardous waste to care for our environment starts with us. We are continually reducing wastage through our policies. We have set a target to reduce non-hazardous waste by 30% by 2030 (from the 2019 baseline) and reduce hazardous waste by 15% by 2030 (from the 2019 baseline). Awareness on plastic wastage was raised within the organization and we have significantly reduced single-use plastic at all of our global facilities. We have invested in solar panels, energy-saving LED Lights and successfully reduced the volume of total waste from our production facilities. A water reduction/recycling program is already in full swing at our Hangzhou facility, and we are looking forward to implementing the same at our site in Batam, Indonesia. Looking even further ahead, we are also exploring sponsorship of environmental improvement and restoration projects designed to reduce GHG emissions and help generate
carbon sinks.
